Sa'ar: Vucic one of most impressive leaders in Europe, one of Israel's greatest friends

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is one of the most impressive leaders in Europe and one of Israel's most prominent friends, Israeli FM Gideon Sa'ar said after a meeting with Vucic in Belgrade on Tuesday.

In a post on X, Sa'ar wrote that they had discussed the situation in Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East, as well as the "close relations" between Serbia and Israel.

"Following the President's meeting with (Israeli) Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu last week - we will advance a free trade agreement between Serbia and Israel," Sa'ar posted.

"We appreciate the President's support and personal friendship during our difficult time and to this day!" he noted.

"We discussed President Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza, which Israel has accepted. I told him (Vucic) that Hamas might try to change Trump's outline and thereby effectively reject it," Sa'ar also wrote in the post.

Sa'ar was on an official visit to Serbia.

Vucic and the Israeli FM met to discuss bilateral relations and strengthening the cooperation and dialogue between their countries, as well as possibilities for concluding a FTA.
