BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with the new head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ambassador Marcel Pesko, on Tuesday to discuss the priorities of cooperation and joint activities in the coming period, and noted that, to Serbia, the OSCE represented one of the most significant partners when it comes to dialogue and preservation of stability in the region.

Djuric especially highlighted the significance of support provided to Serbia by the OSCE in the EU integration process, including in rule of law, human rights, media freedoms and democratic standards, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

He said Serbia was making progress economically and that regional cooperation was especially important, as well as that the Western Balkans, thanks to its potential, could be a useful partner to the EU.

Djuric also underscored the significance of the activities of the OSCE mission in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija and noted that Serbia highly appreciated its role in monitoring minority rights and the security situation on the ground, which he said was especially important for the Serb community and for preservation of stability in the province.

He said the OSCE Mission's support for Serbia's efforts to advance institutions and public policies was an important contribution to stability across the region.

Djuric said he expected the cooperation with Pesko to help implement projects that had a direct impact on the citizens' everyday life.

Djuric said Serbia remained committed to open dialogue and cooperation with the OSCE and expected joint efforts to encourage further development and produce concrete results.
