BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Monday Serbians should be peaceful when it comes to energy supplies to the market but that the situation regarding the future of Serbia's Russian majority-owned oil company NIS - which is under US sanctions - was quite complicated and that the Serbian government was still waiting for certain information.
Speaking to the RTS about President Aleksandar Vucic's meeting with teams in charge of national energy stability and security on Sunday, Djuric said discussions with the US side, as well as with other parties, had lasted until late in the evening and that further developments remained to be seen.
"We expect some things to happen perhaps as early as today," Djuric said.
"What is clear and unequivocal is that Serbia has prepared well for this crisis in terms of its (fuel) stocks, and that it has approached this problem in a responsible and serious manner out of a desire to preserve its relations with all key actors and by acting in a fair and transparent manner," he said.
He said Serbia would continue to act in a fair and transparent manner and that the public would be kept informed of any new details regarding NIS in a transparent manner.
"For now, we are still waiting for certain new information about potential transactions and potential further steps," he added.
