BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian parliamentary committee on Kosovo-Metohija Milovan Drecun met with French MEP Jean-Lin Lacapelle on Friday.

Drecun noted that Serbia would never recognise the false state of Kosovo, regardless of evident political pressure and manipulation, the Serbian parliament said in a statement.

"Anyone who insists on Serbia recognising the false state of Kosovo or agrees to its UN membership is committing a strong internal destabilisation of Serbia as that creates a public sentiment that is against any compromise agreement with Pristina," Drecun stressed.

Speaking about recent war crimes indictments against Hasim Taci and other ethnic Albanians from Kosovo-Metohija, he noted that the indictments best proved and demonstrated the scale of crimes committed by the terrorist "Kosovo Liberation Army" against Serbs, Romani and even ethnic Albanians during the conflict in Kosovo-Metohija.

The indictments will prove that an ethnic cleansing of Serbs, rather than genocide against ethnic Albanians, is what happened there, Drecun said.

He also said a working group of his committee had documentation proving that KFOR and UNMIK had been covering up crimes committed by the "KLA" and was ready to make them public.

He said ethnically motivated attacks on Serbs continued in Kosovo-Metohija and that the Serbs were especially terrorised by Pristina's special police forces, which he stressed had destabilised the north of Kosovo.

A particular reason for concern is the fact that, with strong support from NATO, the US, Turkey, Germany and the UK, a so-called Kosovo army is being established, which is a threat to the security of Serbs and contrary to UNSCR 1244, he said.

Drecun also pointed out the threat posed by the presence of a large number of jihadists in Kosovo-Metohija who are using migrant routes to reach the EU.

Lacapelle noted that France, too, was facing the threat of attacks by Islamic extremists, and added that Europe had not taken the appropriate measures to tackle the issue.

He said he supported Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's decision not to sign an agreement on the path to normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and Drecun noted that Serbia was ready to reach an agreement on normalisation, but not to recognise the false state of Kosovo, and that Belgrade opposed Pristina's membership in international organisations.

Lacapelle said it was no coincidence he was in Serbia on the anniversary of the start of the NATO bombing in 1999, and recalled that, at the time, his political party had been the only one that was against the campaign.

Earlier in the day, Lacapelle paid a tribute to the victims of the 1999 aggression on Serbia.
