BELGRADE - President of Serbia and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Presidency member Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday evening the SNS had won a landslide victory in local elections in Negotin, Mionica and Secanj earlier in the day.
Thanking the citizens, Vucic noted that "people understood who is fighting for Serbian interests."
Speaking to Pink TV by phone, Vucic said he had the election results from all 72 polling stations in Negotin and that an SNS-led coalition had won 69.3 pct of votes, while supporters of blockades in the country won 26.7 pct.
"In seats, that is 33 against 12," Vucic said.
In Secanj, where the SNS ran on its own, it won 60.9 pct of votes and was followed by pro-blockade activists (30.4 pct), the Socialist Party of Serbia (4.4 pct), a group of citizens (1.9 pct) and the Serbian Radical Party (1.9 pct), Vucic said.
He also said that, based on votes from 37 out of 38 polling stations in Mionica, the SNS had won 52.6 pct and was followed by pro-blockade activists (38.5 pct), the Social Democratic Party (3.6 pct), the Freedom and Justice Party (1.4 pct) and a Mirko Jovic-led electoral list (1.2 pct).
