BELGRADE - Addressing the Serbia-Africa 2025: Dignity conference in Belgrade, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he was hoping for deep and long-standing unity between the peoples of Serbia and Africa.
"An old African proverb says 'When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.' There is another similar proverb - 'Unity is strength and division is weakness.' I am hoping for deep and long-standing unity between the peoples of Africa and Serbia, and other peoples that want such unity with Africa," Vucic said at the conference, hosted by Serbia's Security and Information Agency at the Palace of Serbia.
He noted that the relations between Serbia and African countries were woven into a joint fight for freedom and justice and were today built upon a long tradition of trust, equality and a joint vision of the future.
"In Africa, we do not only see partners, but also brotherly and friendly peoples with whom we share history, as well as the future. I am exceptionally honoured to address you on a topic that symbolises unbreakable ties, mutual respect and historical solidarity in the relations between the Republic of Serbia and countries of the African continent," Vucic said.
He noted that the relations were a result of a continuous friendship that was here to stay and had been developing amid changes in the global circumstances and political systems.
