Vucic speaks with Jeffrey Sachs

BELGRADE- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke with US economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs on Thursday, noting that they had discussed all important aspects of the global situation and the circumstances in Serbia and the region, the increasing polarisation in the world, the role and place of diplomacy and international law in growing conflicts, as well as difficult and strategic decisions that were ahead of world leaders.

"I am exceptionally honoured to have had an opportunity to exchange views with Jeffrey Sachs, a man whose immense knowledge and vast experience justify his reputation of one of the greatest economists of our age. Professor Sachs's critical reflections, analyses, conclusions and opinions on current developments in the global situation are invaluable for Serbia as well," Vucic posted on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

Speaking about the situation in the region, Vucic said Serbia's consistent political positions and its responsible economic policy represented the more difficult but definitely the only right path in the present constellation of global power and that Serbia would persistently advocate peace and cooperation among states, which he noted was the main precondition for overcoming the present complex and difficult situation.

"I learned much because Jeffrey Sachs is an exceptional connoisseur of the complex mechanism of international politics, which the world's economic future depends on, and top-level decision-makers need to listen to his deep insights. I took the opportunity to invite Professor Sachs to honour us by visiting Serbia again," Vucic noted.
