BACKI PETROVAC - Serbia will build a Slovak House in Novi Sad, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Monday after he and his Slovak counterpart Peter Pellegrini met with representatives of Serbia's Slovak national minority in Backi Petrovac, northern Serbia.
Vucic said the meeting had addressed ways to help all Slovak communities in the country.
"At the proposal of Peter Pellegrini, we agreed to build a Slovak House in Novi Sad, and I would say this is a major thing for both Slovakia and the Slovak community. That will not cost less than six or seven million euros, and Serbia will take that upon itself," he said.
Vucic said he was proud of Serbia's Slovaks, who he noted had always shown respect for the country.
"Together with us, they go through both good and uneasy or difficult times. I would like to thank Slovak President Peter Pellegrini for the fact Slovakia has always supported both the Slovak community here and Serbia through its policy and its economic support provided to those places (inhabited by ethnic Slovaks)," Vucic said.
