DAVOS - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday his meeting with Hungarian PM Viktor Orban earlier in the day had addressed the Serbian oil company NIS, and added that he hoped a final agreement between its Russian majority owner and the Hungarian oil firm MOL - which is set to acquire NIS - would be reached by mid-March.
Speaking to reporters in Davos, where he is attending the World Economic Forum, Vucic said he would likely meet with Orban by the end of January to analyse the entire situation regarding NIS more thoroughly and in more detail. NIS is under US sanctions due to its Russian majority ownership.
"I believe that final agreement between the Russians and the Hungarians will be completed by mid-March and that we will obtain an operating licence (for NIS) in the meantime," Vucic said.
He said the meeting with Orban had also addressed further Hungarian investments in Serbia, as well as Serbia-Hungary relations and ways to take joint positions on key geopolitical issues in today's world.
After the discussion with Orban, Vucic also held separate meetings with the Chairperson of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers Borjana Kristo and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"Everything is easier with friends. As always, a cordial and friendly meeting with Viktor Orban, with whom I briefly exchanged impressions from WEF26 and, in particular, of a new chapter in history that is already open and that we are witnessing as we face increasingly numerous challenges," Vucic posted on Instagram.
He added that they had also discussed energy security issues and that they had agreed to meet soon to make many joint plans concrete as soon as possible and to the benefit of the citizens.
