BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Tuesday there was ample space for advancement of cooperation between Serbia and Tanzania and that reopening the Serbian embassy in the African country, which is due this year, would significantly contribute to that.

Djuric was speaking with Tanzanian Parliament Speaker Mussa Zungu in Belgrade about further strengthening of bilateral relations and expansion of cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and noted that the two countries had a long tradition of good relations and understanding on various issues, especially within the Non-Aligned Movement.

Djuric and Zungu also discussed the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the position of Serbs living in the autonomous province.

Djuric again pointed out Serbia's consistent commitment to respect for the principles of international law and for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of independent states, and emphasised that Serbia's principled position was that all outstanding issues should be resolved peacefully and through dialogue.

The parties said the World in Serbia scholarship programme represented a good platform for establishing new ties, developing future cooperation and strengthening partnerships with countries on the African continent and other friendly regions in the world, and Tanzania was also thanked for confirming its participation in the specialised EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
