BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with the chairman of the Hungarian parliament's foreign affairs committee Zsolt Nemeth in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss the most important current issues of joint interest with a view to further advamce, emt of cooperation.
The parties agreed that Serbia-Hungary bilateral relations had reached an all-time high in the past 15 years in terms of quality and intensity, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
Djuric noted that cooperation in the economy, energy, energy security and diversification of energy sources, as well as in infrastructure ties, digitalisation and culture, was exceptionally significant for Serbia.
He also highlighted the important role of national minorities in both countries in strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation.
Djuric thanked Hungary for its consistent and strong support in Serbia's EU integration process, and noted that the EU was incomplete without Serbia and the Western Balkans region and that Serbia was striving to become an equal and full-fledged EU member state in the most dignified manner.
Speaking about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, Djuric underscored that Belgrade was striving to meet its commitments while expecting international factors to exert influence on the Pristina authorities to ensure their representatives, too, finally start acting in the same way.
He also thanked Hungary for its understanding and support on some issues regarding Serbia's southern province.
