BELGRADE - Speaking to reporters after consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Radical Party deputy leader Aleksandar Seselj said the party was in favour of holding early parliamentary elections this year, and noted that elections were an opportunity to resolve all political differences and confrontations.
In the past year and a half, the Serbian Radical Party has taken part in various political processes, taking clear positions on developments in Serbia and a "notably counter-revolutionary stance," Seselj said.
"We still adhere to that today, and believe that, in spite of everything, including the issue of holding early parliamentary elections, the state authorities need to take power in their own hands when it comes to security and all other segments of social life in which we have seen that, in the past year and a half, there are obstructions that are generated, as well as funded, from abroad - above all, in the judiciary and the education system," Seselj said.
He said certain people in top-ranking positions in the judiciary and the education system - including the University of Belgrade rector and many others - were loyal to centres of power located abroad.
"That is something we believe is unacceptable to Serbia, and we are convinced that a vast majority of Serbian citizens think alike," Seselj noted.
