BELGRADE - Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujic received UNICEF Representative in Serbia Deyana Kostadinova on Tuesday to discuss advancement of cooperation in protection of child rights and support for the most vulnerable categories of minors.
"During the meeting, the importance of continued cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and UNICEF in reforms aimed at improving the position of children in the justice system, especially in the field of criminal legal protection of minors and prevention of violence against children, was emphasised," an official statement said.
"Vujic underlined that the Ministry of Justice remains committed to creating an efficient and humane justice system that fully protects the rights of children and minors, while applying international standards and best practices.
The UNICEF Representative expressed the organisation’s readiness to continue providing support to Serbian institutions in implementing reforms and programmes aimed at the well-being of children and youth.
The interlocutors agreed that inter-institutional cooperation is of key importance for further improving the system of child rights protection in the Republic of Serbia," it said.
