BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met on Tuesday in Belgrade with Gen Alexus Grynkewich, Commander of the US European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Gasic noted "the importance of the long-standing cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and NATO within the framework of the Partnership for Peace Programme, as well as the continued development of relations with the United States," the Serbian MoD said in a statement.
"He also highlighted the significance of maintaining continuous dialogue aimed at strengthening trust and understanding between the two sides and added that preserving regional stability remains Serbia’s priority.
Minister Gasic noted that Serbia remains a predictable and reliable partner committed to military neutrality, as well as to creating strong relations with all interested parties, in line with its national interests," it said.
"The Minister of Defence highlighted that Serbia, like the majority of the international community, advocates the consistent implementation of, and full respect for, United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, the Military Technical Agreement, and other signed agreements, while also calling on all other parties involved to do the same.
He positively assessed the current level of cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR - the only legitimate armed force in the territory of Kosovo-Metohija and a key factor in the security and survival of Serbs in their ancestral homes.
It was concluded that during the recently conducted NATO-Serbia military exercise, both sides had the chance to exchange experiences and enhance their capabilities," it also said.
