BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Thursday in Belgrade with Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood Gert Jan Koopman to discuss Serbia's further progress on the EU path and fulfilment of commitments from its accession process.
In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that special attention had been devoted to harmonising a set of judicial laws with Venice Commission recommendations, adoption of remaining laws in line with ODIHR recommendations for improving the electoral process, as well as establishment of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).
"We also exchanged views on issues of the EU common foreign and security policy, as well as on new initiatives aimed at lending an additional momentum to the enlargement policy," Vucic posted.
Vucic and Koopman jointly attended a meeting of Serbia's operating team for EU accession that focused on stepping up work on rule of law and delivering on interim benchmarks from accession chapters 23 and 24, as well as on implementation of recommendations from an annual report of the European Commission.
"We also discussed the dynamics of the implementation of the Reform Agenda as part of the Western Balkans Growth Plan and reviewed activities that need to be undertaken to further advance the negotiations process and prepare the remaining clusters for opening," Vucic wrote on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.
