BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday evening he was considering becoming a candidate for PM and that he planned to resign as president of Serbia.
Asked by Radio Belgrade 1 whether he planned to resign in the next three to four months, Vucic responded the resignation might come "even sooner."
"And, once I do that, I will not tell the people that I have cut short my term - I will say that I have resigned," Vucic said, adding that the move would not be a surprise to anyone.
Speaking about his candidacy for PM, Vucic said the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) was "thinking about it on a daily basis."
He added that he had started packing his books at the Presidency of Serbia and that he would give away 1,200 books he had received as gifts during his tenure as president.
"I will give them away to an institution. I am still thinking about what institution it will be," Vucic said.
Asked whether the SNS was considering a candidate for the next presidential elections, Vucic responded affirmatively, but noted that the name of the candidate would still not be announced at a St Vitus's Day rally on June 28.
