Vucic: I will be president for a few more weeks and then resign

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday evening he would be president for a few more weeks and then resign from the post.

In a speech at a Serbia, One Family gathering outside the Serbian parliament building in central Belgrade, Vucic said he had told the leadership of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) that, if they wanted to, he would help them win the people's trust in the upcoming elections so that, in the next four years, they could achieve everything he had spoken about.

"I will be president for just a few more weeks, and then I will resign. Nothing is for life, and thank God it is not. So, thank you for all the nice wishes and kind words," Vucic said.

He also said his proposal for the name of an SNS list for the upcoming elections was United Serbia.
