WASHINGTON - Serbia has officially acceded to the Artemis space programme.
Serbian FM Marko Djuric signed the Artemis Accords at the NASA headquarters in Washington on Thursday.
The signing ceremony was also attended by NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson, US Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Wesley Brooks, Serbian Ambassador to Washington Dragan Sutanovac and Marija Gnjatovic, an official of the Serbian Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.
For Serbian scientists, companies and institutions, signing the Accords will "open wide the door to participation in one of the world's most advanced space programmes," Djuric told reporters in Washington earlier this week.
"Serbia is committed to peaceful space research, to respect for international law, so that agreement, too, will help to create a favorable framework for our further development. Of course, this also has symbolic value and political significance and is taking place as part of strategic dialogue that is a step forward in Serbian-American relations," Djuric noted.
