Mojsilovic visits Serbian Armed Forces troops in Ground Safety Zone

BUJANOVAC - Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Gen Milan Mojsilovic on Tuesday visited army troops deployed in the Tabalije base area within the Ground Safety Zone between central Serbia and Serbia's southern province of Kosovo-Metohija.

During the visit, Mojsilovic reviewed the organisation of life and work at the base, challenges faced by army troops in that part of the country, as well as their capabilities for performing the tasks of controlling the Ground Safety Zone and securing the administrative line with Kosovo-Metohija, the MoD said in a statement.

Mojsilovic watched the implementation of a simultaneous patrol by Serbian Armed Forces troops and Kfor along the administrative line, from Veliko brdo to Golo brdo, and gained immediate insight into the situation on the ground in the Serbian Armed Forces troops' areas of engagement.

Introduced in 2005, the simultaneous patrols represent one of the most important joint activities regularly carried out by the Serbian Armed Forces and Kfor to monitor the situation on the ground, prevent illegal activities and strengthen mutual trust and understanding.

To date, more than 5,000 such patrols have been carried out.

At the end of the visit, Mojsilovic expressed satisfaction with the army troops' capabilities and their professional collaboration with Kfor, and noted that, even though the security situation was stable, a high level of alertness and readiness to respond must be maintained, the statement said.
