BELGRADE - The ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) remains by far the most popular political party in Serbia with 46.8 pct support, while the popularity of right-wing parties is on a slight decline despite their excellent results in the most recent elections, shows the latest Faktor plus survey.
In a statement to Blic, the pollster's director Vladimir Pejic said the December popularity ratings were not too different from the previous months and that the Progressives remained the most popular party in the country.
He said the party's popularity rating was even better than its result in the April elections and that the personal rating of its leader was the main reason behind this.
"Interestingly, Aleksandar Vucic's personal rating is higher than the ratings of the Progressives and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) combined," Pejic noted.
He said the SPS rating was stable and similar to the party's electoral result and that, like the SNS, it owed much of its popularity to its leader, Ivica Dacic.
Pejic said green parties had retained their positions and that, similarly to their results in the April elections, they were doing better in Belgrade than in other parts of Serbia.
He also said the slight dip in the popularity of right-wing parties compared to the April elections could be understood to be due to their "passive position on the topics of Kosovo and Russia."
