MIONICA - Aleksandar Vucic, who heads the Aleksandar Vucic-United Serbia electoral list for the October 25 early parliamentary polls in Serbia, said on Tuesday the country's strategic dialogue with the US would not be easy or simple, but that he believed big things would be achieved for Serbia.
"I believe it will be neither easy nor simple, but I believe that we will eventually succeed in making big things for Serbia," Vucic told reporters in Mionica, western Serbia, when asked to comment on a statement by US President Donald Trump that the US had very good relations with Serbia.
Trump said this while speaking to reporters outside the White House on Monday, in response to a question about the strategic dialogue with Serbia and cooperation between Washington and Belgrade.
Vucic: There will be no discussions or talks about federalisation or destruction of Serbia
BELGRADE - Aleksandar Vucic, who heads the Aleksandar Vucic-United Serbia electoral list for the October 25 early parliamentary polls in Serbia, said on Tuesday there would be no discussions, let alone talks, about a federalisation, confederalisation or destruction or Serbia, and noted that discussions about new infrastructure projects could be held with citizens in the north of the country.
Vucic said this in a video posted on his avucic Instagram profile.
Commenting on an X post by former League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina leader Nenad Canak, a supporter of the Student List who has proposed that whoever wins the elections should "start discussions about Vojvodina," Vucic said he had known that was the Student List's agenda.
"We can hold discussions about what citizens in the north of Serbia, in Vojvodina, want - what new roads, what new hospitals, what new rail lines, science and technology parks, faculties and universities - we can discuss everything. But we will not discuss a federalisation, confederalisation or destruction of Serbia, however much that may be supported by anyone abroad," Vucic noted.
He added that he had known that what Canak, "the ideologist, main protagonist and supporter" of the Student List, had said was the agenda of the list, but that this needed to be said clearly by its representatives.
"And there will neither be discussions nor talks about that," Vucic noted.
He added that Canak had also noted that the so-called "Kosovo" was independent, but that, for Serbia and the Serbs, Kosovo was not and would never be independent, and that it was not for the majority of the world.
Vucic reiterated an invitation to Ilija Srdanovic - who heads the Student list - to a public debate.
"It would be very important that we confront our arguments and that the Serbian public can hear precisely what the Student List's policy is," he said.
