Djilas: We will request police probes into residence registrations

BELGRADE - Freedom and Justice Party leader Dragan Djilas announced on Tuesday the opposition Serbia Against Violence coalition would request police probes into residence registrations in Belgrade municipalities and that protests against alleged electoral fraud would be continued.

Djilas said this at a press briefing outside a building in the Vozdovac municipality that he said had been registered as the residence of 52 people before the recent Belgrade local elections despite being uninhabitable.

He presented examples that he said proved that many people had been falsely registered as residents of Belgrade - including at the addresses of some institutions - to be able to vote in the elections.

He said the coalition was preparing to file a constitutional complaint over alleged electoral irregularities at all levels and would continue to fight against the issue through institutions and that more protests would follow.

In a similar announcement, Zdravko Ponos, leader of the Serbia Centre party - which is also a member of the coalition - confirmed recently January 16 had been agreed as the date of a new protest against alleged electoral fraud.
