BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Monday no calls had been made in recent European Parliament (EP) and Council of Europe (CoE) debates for an international inquiry into the December 17 Serbian elections and that any such calls were not the dominant stance in the two bodies.
"No one called for an international inquiry in these debates in the EP and the CoE. There might have been one or two people, but it was really not the dominant stance. They said, if there were irregularities, they should be investigated by Serbian institutions," Brnabic told Happy TV.
Noting that the present EP definitely did not favour Serbia, given its past insistence on Belgrade imposing sanctions on Russia or giving up on Chinese investments, Brnabic noted that "other European institutions have a say in this, too."
"When you look at the European Commission's (EC) annual progress reports on Serbia, you will see that the EC has, for the third time now, proposed to member states to continue the (membership) talks with Serbia and open the cluster on the economy. So, the EC has a completely different stance on the majority of these issues," she said.
Brnabic said a soon-to-be-adopted EP resolution on the Serbian elections would bring "nothing new" but noted that it was unbelievable it would be passed before the release of an ODIHR report.
She said the resolution would be a form of pressure aimed at legitimising the so-called statehood of "Kosovo."
