BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held an urgent meeting with several government ministers on Tuesday evening after Pristina's PM Albin Kurti rejected a proposal by the US, the EU and Quint states and decided instead that a ban on the Serbian dinar in Kosovo-Metohija begin on Wednesday, sources in the Presidency of Serbia told Tanjug.
The meeting, held at the Presidency of Serbia, addressed the next steps to be taken by Belgrade about the issue.
The EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak said on Tuesday the Pristina government would issue information about the ban on Wednesday, but declined to elaborate.
"We mentioned this issue, of the decision of the central bank of Kosovo, but I do not want to act as a speaker of the Kosovo government, so there will be information given to you tomorrow," he told reporters after meeting with Kurti and the president of the so-called Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, in Pristina.
