Brnabic receives Cuban ambassador to Belgrade

BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic received Cuban Ambassador to Belgrade Leyde Ernesto Rodriguez Hernandez on Thursday.

Brnabic said Serbia-Cuba relations, established more than 120 years ago, were traditionally good and friendly, and noted a readiness to further strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

She highlighted parliamentary cooperation, affirmed by a protocol signed in 2015, an official statement said.

Noting the significance of boosting political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, Brnabic announced the establishment of a Serbia-Cuba parliamentary friendship group.

Thanking Brnabic for the hospitality, the ambassador congratulated her on assuming her new post and presented to her a letter of congratulations from Cuban Parliament Speaker Esteban Hernandez and an invitation to a seminar on parliamentary diplomacy to be hosted by Cuba in September, the statement also said.

The parties said there were ample opportunities to deepen cooperation and agreed to step up contacts at all levels to achieve shared goals and interests.
