BELGRADE - Serbian students who are blocking university buildings blocked Belgrade's Autokomanda interchange, a major traffic hub in the city, at 10 am on Monday.
The students have announced they would be blocking Autokomanda for 24 hours.
Before the start of the blockade, police halted traffic on and towards the interchange.
As previously announced by the Interior Ministry and city authorities, ambulances, a cistern with drinking water, mobile toilets and large trash containers are deployed in the area.
Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has said traffic on Autokomanda would be rerouted and urged the organisers of the blockade to behave responsibly, noting that the police would act to prevent any incidents.
Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called on the police to provide full security to all participants of the unlawful blockade of the interchange and help create conditions for normal life for Belgraders.
A group of students continues to block university buildings, claiming that none of the four demands they made at the start of protests have been fully met, while government officials have called on them to declare which of the demands have not been met and in what way.
