NOVI SAD - The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad has ordered 48-hour police detention for four people arrested on suspicion of complicity in the criminal offences of violent behaviour and grievous bodily harm, committed in attacks on students in Novi Sad last night.
In a statement, the Prosecutor's Office identified the suspects as K S, aged 30, and R D, B N and D G, all aged 22, and said it had ordered the police detention in connection with an attack on students G K, K S and V A on Ulica Novosadskog sajma and another attack on students P M and K S near Serbian Progressive Party offices on Bulevar oslobodjenja.
It said that, within the time frame stipulated by law, the suspects would appear before the Prosecutor's Office for a hearing.
Earlier, Novi Sad police said they had arrested the four on suspicion of attacking two young men and three girls and that one girl had been seriously injured in the attack while one young man sustained minor injuries.
In an Instagram post, student protesters in Novi Sad said a group of their colleagues had been attacked by unknown perpetrators last night and that one girl had been seriously injured in the incident.
