University of Belgrade rectorate: Information on situation at faculties exchanged at meeting with PM

BELGRADE - The Rectorate of the University of Belgrade said on Wednesday that, at the invitation of Serbian PM Djuro Macut, a meeting on the situation at universities and faculties had been held earlier in the day.

The meeting in the government building was attended by representatives of the majority of state universities in Serbia.

Information on the situation at the universities and faculties was exchanged at the meeting and potential ways of overcoming the crisis were discussed, the rectorate said in a statement.

The University of Belgrade was represented by Rector Vladan Djokic, Prorector Dejan Filipovic and the deans of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Architecture.

On Tuesday, Djokic announced that he had accepted Macut's invitation to continue discussions about problems in higher education on Wednesday.

Macut and Djokic first met on April 22 to discuss the issue.
