Six people arrested on suspicion of attacking students in New Belgrade

BELGRADE - Belgrade police on Thursday identified and arrested six people suspected of involvement in a physical attack on a group of students who want to study.

The incident took place in New Belgrade's Student City university campus on Wednesday evening.

The suspects were identified as D G, aged 22, A V, aged 21, M K, aged 24, L T, aged 20, A N, aged 26, and Z J, aged 26.

In a statement, the Interior Ministry said that, in collaboration with the competent prosecutor's office, it continued to work on identifying and detaining other people involved in the incident, as well as on establishing all facts and circumstances regarding the case.

Earlier, the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in New Belgrade said it had ordered 48-hour police detention for suspects identified with the initials L T and A N, who will be arraigned for a hearing during that time.

Students who want to study, including Milos Pavlovic, Vladimir Balac and Luka Lalosevic, were physically attacked in Student City and had to seek medical attention at the Emergency Medical Centre due to sustained injuries.
