PARIS - Olympic Committee of Serbia President Bozidar Maljkovic said on Thursday in Paris the Serbia Olympic team had high ambitions and that he expected Serbian athletes to win more medals at the upcoming summer Olympics compared to the Tokyo Games.
At a press conference, Maljkovic said Serbia's medal tally in Tokyo consisted of three gold medals, one silver medal and five bronze medals.
"We arrived in Paris with 112 competitors, including Novak Djokovic (tennis), Nikola Jokic (basketball), Ivana Spanovic (long jump), Tijana Boskovic (volleyball) and others. Serbia is ready to shine in this legendary city, we come with high ambitions. We are a small country but we have a long tradition in sports. Our teams will be competing in various events, like France. We won nine medals in Tokyo and we want more now. I will be satisfied if we achieve that success," Maljkovic said.
The opening ceremony of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris on Friday evening.
