BELGRADE - Former Serbia football international Igor Duljaj has been named new head coach of Partizan Belgrade, the club announced on its official website on Monday.
The decision comes after now-former boss Gordan Petric announced his departure following Partizan's UEFA Europa Conference League defeat to Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol last week.
Petric said he would remain in the post until the international break.
However, after a disappointing draw with Serbian Superliga outfit Radnicki 1923 on Monday afternoon, Petric said he might not be coaching the team in the upcoming 169th Eternal Derby against Red Star, slated for Friday.
During his playing days, Duljaj played for Partizan Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sevastopol, earning 47 caps for the national team.
He began his coaching career at Shakhtar in an assistant coach capacity and performed the same role at Partizan between 2019 and 2022, after which he was named head coach of Teleoptik.
