BELGRADE - Serbian football champions Red Star Belgrade on Thursday unveiled their latest signing, Austria striker Marko Arnautovic.
At a press conference at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, Arnautovic said he had joined the club to score goals, and promised to "let the pitch do the talking."
Responding to questions from reporters, he burst into tears when asked about his friendship with the late Sinisa Mihajlovic, a Serbian football legend who coached him at Bologna.
"This is very hard for me, you should not have asked me that. He was a brother, a father to me, he was everything to me. I told him I would come here one day. We talked about Red Star every day - we talked more about Red Star than about Bologna at the time," Arnautovic said.
"I have also spoken with his children, his wife, they were all happy, and they cried. I cried more in these past three days than I ever have in my entire life," he added.
Asked if he would make his debut for Red Star at Saturday's game against OFK Belgrade, he responded:
"I expect you to come to the stadium, and then we will see."
He revealed that his desire was to score in every game, including against arch-rivals Partizan.
"I think I will retire here, I am 36 years old. I want to be scoring goals and I want us to keep winning," Arnautovic noted, adding that Nicolo Barella, one of his teammates at his previous club, Inter Milan, had been the first to congratulate him on joining Red Star.
