NIS - Dragan Stojkovic has resigned as head coach of the Serbia men's national football team after a 1-0 home defeat to Albania in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers at the weekend and Serbia U21 boss Zoran Mirkovic will be in charge for the away game against Andorra on Tuesday.
"Following the national team's defeat to Albania in Leskovac, head coach Dragan Stojkovic offered his resignation and will not be travelling with the team for the World Cup qualifier against Andorra," the Football Association of Serbia has announced in a statement, adding that Mirkovic and his coaching staff had joined the senior national team in Nis on Sunday.
It said the FSS Executive Board would meet on October 19 to discuss changes at the helm of the national team.
"The FSS expresses its gratitude to Stojkovic for everything he did in the past four and a half years at the helm of the national team, above all, for qualifying for a World Cup and a European Championship, as well as for winning the top spot in Nations League B and retaining the status in the elite tier of European football," the statement said.
