BELGRADE - Football Association of Serbia (FSS) Secretary General Branko Radujko said on Monday he believed Veljko Paunovic would remain head coach of the Serbia men's national football team for a long time.
On December 4, Paunovic signed a contract until 2030 with the FSS directors.
"Paunovic came as really the best solution we had at this time, he came for the long term," Radujko told K1 TV, adding that he believed Paunovic would remain in the post even beyond 2030.
Before signing the contract, Paunovic was in charge of the national team in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against England (0-2) and Latvia (2-1).
"Paunovic will be fully independent..., ...and he will pick his staff on his own, from the country and from abroad, people with whom he has already worked in England, Spain and America," Radujko said.
"His task will be to get the maximum out of the players," Radujko said, adding that Paunovic was also tasked with building a "trademark style of play."
