Lajovic loses to Monfils in Miami opener

MIAMI - Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic has been knocked out of the Miami Masters tournament after a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 defeat to Frenchman Gael Monfils in the first round.

Monfils, who won after an hour and 34 minutes of play, will face Australian Jordan Thompson in the second round.

Following early exits by Lajovic and Miomir Kecmanovic and a withdrawal by Novak Djokovic, Laslo Djere remains the only Serbian at the tournament.

He will face Russian Karen Khachanov in the second round on Saturday.
