Mali: There will be surprises when it comes to EXPO ambassadors

BELGRADE- Serbian First Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Friday negotiations with many potential ambassadors of EXPO 2027 Belgrade were underway and that the candidates included both Serbian and foreign public figures.

"There will be many surprises, we are in talks with many of them, there are domestic, Serbian ambassadors, as well as some foreign ones, but we always leave that for the end, when everything is certain," Mali told reporters in Belgrade during a visit to the construction site of a new bridge on the Sava River.

To attract people from various parts of the world, it is important to have ambassadors from as many countries as possible, he said.

Mali added that having former sprinter Usain Bolt and Hollywood actor Jackie Chan as EXPO 2027 ambassadors was significant.

"Jackie Chan, a legend, is especially important for the Asian market, extremely important," he said.

Mali said EXPO 2027 was expected to attract no fewer than 3 million visitors.

"It is a huge number of people from around the world, and the biggest opportunity for us to present ourselves in the right way, to finish our projects by that time and then open a completely new chapter of growth and development of our Serbia after 2028," he concluded.
