Vucic: Rubio has requested to meet with me, I believe we can resolve tariffs issue

TOKYO - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday US State Secretary Marco Rubio had requested to meet with him during his upcoming visit to New York for a UN General Assembly session, and added that he believed it was possible to resolve the issue of US tariffs.

Vucic was responding to questions from Serbian reporters in Tokyo at the end of a several-day visit to Japan.

"Ten minutes ago I received a message that said US State Secretary Marco Rubio has requested to meet with me, so that is an opportunity to discuss that (tariffs). And I will try to also speak with (US Treasury Secretary Scott) Bessent from the Department of the Treasury, because those sanctions are now becoming important for us," Vucic said.

"I cannot even say how high the level of investments to be made by a Japanese company in Serbia will be if we resolve the tariffs issue. So, I believe it is possible," he added.
