Mali meets with von Beckerath

BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali met with the head of the EU Delegation to Belgrade Andreas von Beckerath on Thursday, noting that Serbia is committed to reforms and the EU accession process.

In an Instagram post, Mali wrote that the meeting had focused on current challenges, the next steps and coordination of institutions to ensure efficient implementation of all activities as part of the reform agenda.

"We assessed several topics of strategic importance for further economic and infrastructure development, such as current issues in the energy sector, with special emphasis on NIS, we discussed the latest enlargement report and the implications it can have for domestic policies and the process of alignment with European standards," Mali noted.

"Special attention was devoted to the topic of improving Railway Corridor 10, in view of its significance for regional connectivity, logistics and economic competitiveness. We also touched upon the necessity of more efficient use of available funds for development of agriculture and rural areas," Mali wrote in the post.

Mali also presented all of Serbia's most important macroeconomic parameters and the "essence of Serbia's economic policy, which has in the past 15 years transformed Serbia from a country that was facing bankruptcy to the only EU membership candidate country with an investment-grade credit rating."

"The results of all the reforms we have carried out in the past decade are there, but Serbia wants and can do more, and we will keep working," Mali noted.
