Djedovic Handanovic: Gas interconnector with N Macedonia to be finished by end-2027

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said on Friday the process of obtaining permits for a Serbia-North Macedonia gas interconnector was underway and that the construction permit was due in mid-2026, after which construction works would begin.

After a discussion with North Macedonian counterpart Sanja Bozinovska and a meeting of a bilateral working group on the interconnector project, Djedovic Handanovic said the 144 km interconnector was worth an estimated 153 mln euros and that the funds had been set aside in the 2026 budget.

She noted that the plan was to finish the interconnector by end-2027 in order for the first quantities of gas to start flowing through it in early 2028.
