BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice President Lilyana Pavlova on Thursday to discuss EIB-assisted projects in Serbia aimed at contributing to the economic and social well-being of citizens.

Brnabic noted that cooperation with the EIB was especially significant in the fields of infrastructure, health care, energy, education and research centres, a government statement said.

Brnabic noted the significance of Corridor 10 and investments in railway infrastructure, placing special emphasis on investing in local road infrastructure.

She said railway infrastructure was extremely important for connecting with countries in the region and Europe, which she noted would help Serbia become economically more attractive to investors.

She said the Serbian government was focused on the energy sector and that there were plans to invest in two reversible hydropower plants, and added that the construction of a natural gas interconnector with Bulgaria was a very significant project that was slated for completion in October this year.

Highlighting new potential areas for investments, such as scientific and research centres, Brnabic presented a project to build a BIO4 campus.

Pavlova said the cooperation with Serbia was constructive and would be continued in the period to come, especially when it comes to road and rail infrastructure and investments in the health care sector and dual education.

Pavlova agreed that investing in Corridor 10, as well as investments in road infrastructure, represented a number one priority.

She said railways were high on the EIB agenda and that the same was especially the case with the health care sector, including the completion of clinical centres in Kragujevac and Novi Sad.
