LJUBLJANA - EXPO 2027 LLC Belgrade Director Danilo Jerinic said on Thursday in Ljubljana nearly 2,000 Slovenian companies would attend the Specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.

Jerinic said the high figure confirmed EXPO 2027 would be a strong global platform for economic dialogue and new business opportunities.

"A conference room full of people who came to hold discussions and open up new opportunities for cooperation best reflects the degree of interest in EXPO among Slovenian companies," Jerinic told Tanjug.

Earlier in the day, EXPO 2027 LLC Belgrade and the Slovenian Chamber of Craft and Small Business signed a MoU under which the Chamber will become a central contact point for Slovenian companies planning to take part in EXPO 2027.

Jerinic said the MoU would be very important for the presence of Slovenian businesses at the EXPO.

Specialised EXPO 2027 and Serbia's tourism potential were showcased in Ljubljana as part of a Visit Serbia business meeting that brought together representatives of the Serbian and Slovenian tourism and business sectors.

The event was an opportunity to familiarise the Slovenian public and the country's tourism industry with the significance and the potential of EXPO 2027, as well as to present Serbia as an attractive tourism destination.

The presentation of EXPO 2027 was followed by B2B meetings and pre-arranged business meetings focusing on tourism and travel.

The Ljubljana event is a part of a broader international tour of leading European markets.

Most recently, the EXPO was also presented in Bratislava, Skopje and Zagreb.

Expected to draw more than four million visitors from around the world, EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be held from May 15 through August 15 2027 under the theme of Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.

More than 140 international participants are confirmed to take part, surpassing a record set by EXPO 2017 Astana, which featured 117 participants.
