Vucic: Talks underway with Romania to build gas interconnector

BACKI BREG - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday talks were underway with Romania to build a natural gas interconnector.

Vucic said building gas pipelines was especially important for industrial development.

He was responding to questions from reporters during a visit to the construction site of a 185.5 km Smile of Vojvodina expressway from Backi Breg to Srpska Crnja.

He said works were underway to ensure natural gas supplies to the Zlatibor region in western Serbia.

"That is good for ecology, environmental protection, as well as for the industry," he said.
