Brnabic: Rio Tinto lithium mining project good for Serbia

VALJEVO - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said in Valjevo on Friday she believed Rio Tinto's Jadar lithium mining project was good for Serbia economically as well as when it comes to accelerating the country's green transition.

Asked by reporters about the presence of companies such as Rio Tinto and Euro Lithium in Serbia, Brnabic said she had always believed the Jadar project would bring much good, in particular to the people of Loznica and Krupanj, western Serbia.

"It will change all our perspectives, including the green agenda and promotion of green transition," she said, noting that economic benefits were the other positive aspect.

"The money that would remain in Serbia in that case is unthinkable," she said, noting that "Serbia before and after lithium" would be comparable to "Norway before and after oil."
