BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday extended condolences to Azerbaijan over the deadly crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger jet in Kazakhstan.
"With profound sorrow I learned of the plane crash in Kazakhstan. I extend my deepest condolences to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the families of the victims, and the people of Azerbaijan. In these difficult moments, our thoughts are with you," Vucic wrote in a post on X.
Kazakhstan's Ministry for Emergencies has said 25 people had survived after the plane crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, this morning.
According to preliminary information, 67 passengers and five crew members were on board and 22 people were hospitalised after the accident.
The passengers included 37 Azerbaijani nationals, six Kazakhstani nationals, three Kyrgyzstani nationals and 16 nationals of the Russian Federation.
Serbian PM Milos Vucevic has also extended condolences to the government of Azerbaijan.
