BELGRADE - By putting Serbia forward as the host of a potential meeting between US President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has further boosted Serbia's reputation in the international community, FM Marko Djuric said on Monday, noting that Serbia would offer all its resources to host the meeting and help to resolve a global problem.
Serbia will be lobbying and offering its good services, and the "big players" will look into what their interests are, Djuric told Tanjug.
"Even if the meeting never happens, Serbia is now recognised in the international arena as a country that is capable, dependable and credible and is thus considered as a potential location for such summits and meetings," Djuric said.
In the past, Serbia has hosted various discussions the public did not know of, such as discussions about Afghanistan and the Middle East, he said.
"Today we are also ready to offer all our resources to help to resolve a global problem," he added.
The very fact that Serbia is "in the frame for something like that and that that is being perceived in the world as acceptable lifts us out of the mire of daily Balkan conflicts and divisions," Djuric noted.
