Brnabic: Every story about blockades must end with elections

BELGRADE - Every story about blockades and a general strike "must end with elections," Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday in a comment on protests in the country.

In an appearance on Happy TV, Brnabic said opposition parties were largely representing no one and that, if protesters were distancing themselves from the opposition, that meant that an extra-parliamentary and extra-institutional struggle was going on that must be resolved through elections so that disgruntled citizens could be represented in the parliament.

"That means we have to go to elections again so that people who are in the streets and disgruntled could have their representatives in the parliament, and that, evidently, is not the opposition," she said.
