Biden congratulates Vucic on Statehood Day

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has received a congratulatory message from US President Joe Biden ahead of February 15, Serbia's Statehood Day.

In the message, Biden said Serbia and the US had in the past several years worked on diversification of energy sources and strengthening of economic cooperation, creating a better future for their citizens.

Together, we must continue to support the people of Ukraine and call Russia to account for its unjust and unprovoked war against Ukraine, Biden also said.

He said that, in the year ahead, the US would continue to support Serbia's path towards EU accession as well as the EU-facilitated dialogue on normalisation of relations with Kosovo.

Biden added that the US welcomed Vucic's support for an EU proposal for normalisation that would help create a more peaceful and more prosperous future for the region.

Biden concluded by noting that he looked forward to further strengthening of the partnership between the two countries and the friendship between the two peoples.
