Kovac, Danish ambassador discuss Serbia's EU integration

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Parliament Speaker Elvira Kovac, who also heads the parliamentary committee on European integration, spoke with Danish Ambassador to Belgrade Pernille Dahler Kardel on Monday about the current political and social situation in Serbia and the significance of the country's EU integration.

The discussion in the Serbian parliament building was held ahead of Denmark's Council of the EU presidency, to begin in July this year, an official statement said.

Kovac informed Kardel of the current political and social situation in Serbia and the work of the parliament, highlighting the necessity of establishing dialogue among all groups of MPs so that the parliament may continue to work without obstruction.

Speaking about Serbia's EU integration perspective, Kardel noted the support for further reform processes with a view to opening new clusters in the accession talks, pointing out the significance of EU integration of not only Serbia but the entire Western Balkans as well.
