Newly-elected public prosecutors take oath of office

BELGRADE - Twenty-four newly-elected Serbian public prosecutors took the oath of office before Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac and High Judicial Council members on Monday.

The ceremony was held in the parliament building.

Dolovac said the prosecutors' future work would represent a significant boost to the capacities of the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office and the national judicial system.

"In the present times, when we face new challenges in criminal law, lawful, professional, expert, efficient and responsible work of public prosecutors in the defence of the interest of society is extremely important," Dolovac noted.

She noted that a total of 110 prosecutors had been elected to office for the first time in December and January.
