BELGRADE - Addressing students who want to study, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday he was shocked by what was going on outside the buildings of national public broadcaster RTS, and noted that not only student protesters, but also politicians, were involved in the blockade.
"They are mostly the same people who are taking part in all other blockades," Vucic said in the Pioneers' Park in central Belgrade.
"Everybody in the opposition will soon distance themselves from students who are blockaders, like University of Belgrade Rector Vladan Djokic did today," he said.
He added that, in an interview at the Criminal Police Directorate, Djokic had completely shifted the blame on the protesters.
Vucic said the opposition was "now planning to establish a G17+ (an organisation of experts), only this time it will be called Initiative 60."
It is to be comprised of 190 blockaders who will form a student electoral list, he said.
"That is what they are planning now that the transitional government thing has failed, and then they will say 'We want new elections,'" Vucic noted.
He also said those who were behind protests in Belgrade and the blockade of RTS were "trying to introduce a new normality", but noted that "bullying and violence will not become the normality in Serbia."
